Climate Tech is Growing Up

Proud to be named one of the UK's top 1,000 ClimateTech startups in the Startup Coalition x Beauhurst ClimateTech Index 2025

Jul 1, 2025 @ London

The climate transition needs more than hardware. It needs the intelligence, infrastructure, and data systems that get decisions made and help capital flow faster and smarter. That's why we're proud to be named one of the UK's top 1,000 ClimateTech startups in the Startup Coalition x Beauhurst ClimateTech Index 2025.

⚒️ The climate transition needs more than hardware. It needs the intelligence, infrastructure, and data systems that get decisions made and help capital flow faster and smarter.

That's why we're proud to be named one of the UK's top 1,000 ClimateTech startups in the Startup Coalition x Beauhurst ClimateTech Index 2025.

ClimateTech Index 2025 - £42 Billion sector

The sector is now worth £42bn, with £19bn raised and over 27,000 jobs created. From data to deployment, climate tech is scaling up — and it's encouraging to see so many innovators shaping this transition.

The Data Behind the Growth

The numbers tell a compelling story of a sector coming of age:

  • 1,000 top ClimateTech startups across the UK, representing the most well-funded companies in the space
  • £42 billion in total valuation — a 5% year-on-year increase despite challenging market conditions
  • Over 27,000 jobs created across the country, with more than half located outside London
  • Eight UK regions now host ClimateTech ecosystems valued at over £1bn each

This isn't just about London anymore. The report shows climate innovation happening from Scotland's energy hubs to the Southwest's agricultural tech clusters.

Beyond Hardware: The Intelligence Layer

What excites us most is seeing recognition that climate tech has evolved beyond just hardware and manufacturing. The report highlights how software, data, and intelligence systems are becoming critical enablers of the transition.

From grid optimization software to supply chain transparency platforms, from carbon accounting tools to impact measurement systems — the "intelligence layer" of climate tech is where decisions get made and capital flows get directed.

Building the Data Backbone

At ClimateAligned, we're building exactly this kind of data backbone for the new climate economy. Our AI-powered platform extracts impact KPIs from reports at scale, aligns transactions to custom frameworks, and turns messy, inconsistent sustainability data into actionable insights.

Whether it's helping investors understand the real impact of green bonds, or enabling corporates to track progress against net-zero commitments, we're focused on making climate data work harder and move faster.

What This Recognition Means

Being included in this index alongside companies developing everything from direct air capture to renewable energy infrastructure reflects the breadth of innovation needed for the climate transition.

It also validates our belief that data and intelligence are as critical as turbines and batteries in building a net-zero economy.

The report notes that talent and innovation aren't the bottlenecks — policy consistency and late-stage capital access still are. But with £19bn already invested and growing momentum, the foundations are strong.

Just Getting Started

The climate transition is a multi-decade challenge that requires sustained innovation across every sector of the economy. From energy and transport to buildings and agriculture, every industry needs better data, smarter decisions, and faster capital deployment.

We're proud to be part of this growing ecosystem of UK climate innovators. And we're just getting started.
